After what has seemed like such a long break due to restrictions, we’re delighted to say that we are now back up and running our activities again in a safe and compliant environment.
Since returning, we’ve welcomed a number of new members to each group. Everyone is delighted to be able to take part in the events on Monday and Thursday mornings and their smiles say it all!
There is still an opportunity for new people to join us, so if you are interested, please do get in contact with Noeleen.
With the rollout of the vaccination programme now under way, we are really looking forward to getting back to normal activities in 2021, hopefully soon after Easter, but only when members and volunteers will feel safe to come together for Games and Singing.
In the meantime, we are still here for everyone already part of our group but also for anyone who thinks they might like to join us in the future. Just contact Noeleen on 07769 187858.
Since March of this year everyone has been missing the usual activities with Ditch the Slippers but, happily, with the support of volunteers, we’ve all been able to keep in touch. It’s really good to know that some members who live alone and felt rather isolated before joining Ditch the Slippers were also able to support their new friendships with regular phone calls and messages.
Members also valued the fact that we have been there for them to help with some practical tasks, such as picking up prescriptions, shopping and more, and, with the timely support of a grant from Wealden District Council, volunteers were able to create and deliver a Christmas gift of seasonal goodies and plants to everyone.
So, it’s time to say goodbye to a difficult 2020 and we really look forward to a more sociable 2021.
With an increasing demand for places at our Monday morning Games Group, we have decided to start a second Games Group for new members. This will be a monthly session starting on Wednesday 4th March 2020 and it will run from 10:15 to 11:45am. Please contact Ditch the Slippers on 07769 187858 for further information and to book a place on this free introductory session.
Come and see us on Stall 16 at the Town Council’s Christmas Cracker Event in Crowborough High Street on Friday 22nd November between 4 and 6pm. Our volunteers there will be happy to have a chat with you about the work that we do and try to answer any questions you may have.
